Okay let’s be honest, it is absolutely freezing at the moment and the temptation to stay indoors and hibernate is overwhelming! But, if you know me, then you’ll know that I can’t sit still for very long. I am training more than ever right now as this year I am running my first ever marathon! It’s only 14 weeks away so whatever the weather, I’ve got to get out there!
Winter training definitely has it’s challenges and so I’m doing my best to look after my body, both outside and in. Another first for me this year, is to try a real skincare regime. My previous skin care routine was pretty basic. Wash my face, dry my face, moisturise and dust on a bit of bronzer. I’m not sure how I’ve manage to get away with this for quite so long! Seriously my bathroom skin care shelf was pretty pathetic. Well not any more, this year I am going to get in the know!
So, firstly I’ve teamed up with Garnier. They kindly sent me some products to try before Christmas and I have been using a bunch of their skin care and hair products for the last four weeks. I can honestly say that I’m loving it! I literally feel like there is a whole world (it’s called beauty, duh) that I have been missing out on! Maybe it’s the tomboy in me, but I plan to make up for lost time so I’m going to be using them all! So far my favourites are the PureActive Charcoal Mask and the Miracle Wake Up Cream.
Another way I plan to take care of my skin throughout the winter is with juices and good old fashioned H2O. I’m drinking 1.5 litres of water each day as well as making my own pressed juices. It’s so important to stay well hydrated and it’s easy to forget how much thing like central heating and air conditioning can dry out our skin. I’ve also been using coconut oil and manuka honey on my hands, feet and hair too. I may be a complete skin care novice but hey, bette late than never right!
Training for the marathon means that I am running outside three or four times each week. Hopefully my new regime will help to protect my skin from the elements! Do you have any winter beauty hacks? Comment below or tweet me @adrienne_ldn . In the meantime I’ll be in the bath wearing a face mask!
Ooh! With the coconut oil and honey, how much of each do you use? Just a tiny bit of manuka honey?
Kinda 50/50 it takes a while to absorb so better to do it in the evening when you’ve got more time xx
Does the clay mask dry your skin out afterwards? I use coconut oil for absolutely everything, the ends of my hair, my face, my hands and my nails!
I used the night cream after the clay mask, it didn’t feel dry at all. I’m gonna try using it once a week. Yes to the coconut oil, it’s great as a make up remember too xx
Ace! I’m going to give it a try 🙂 I’ve not tried it as a makeup remover, I’ll give that a try too – thanks! xx
I love a charcoal mask, so satisfying to put on! Definitely good to look after your skin in winter – I’m finding my skin shows the effects of it so much more as I’m getting older – it’s been so dry! xx
Damn it! Why do we have to get older haha 😝 I love the charcoal mask! Although you have to be careful not to get it all over your white dressing gown! I definitely did that. Oops xx
