Wow . . . I can’t really believe that I started writing this blog one year ago. It was the first thing that I wrote on my 2015 To-Do list. When I sat down and started to create this blog, I didn’t really have any expectations or specific ambitions in mind. I just wanted to share my passion for fitness and to hopefully inspire other women to be more active too. Throughout the year I began to find other people that shared my love for running, yoga and neon trainers! I’ve met some inspiring people, worked with some of my favourite brands and had a lot of fun, laughs and sweat along the way.
Here are some of the highlights of my fitness blog so far . . .
I started the year with four new personal training clients, each of them had very different goals. I’m always mega excited to meet a new client and to create a plan for them. People decide to work with a personal trainer for lots of different reasons, but whatever the initial reason is, I love helping them to reach their goals. Last year I saw my clients get fitter, lose weight, gain confidence, and complete races, marathons and triathlons! Throughout 2015 I have created my own training method and I can’t wait to kick start 2016 with my ‘Body Bootcamp’.
One of the first things that I took part in as a ‘blogger’ was a photo shoot for WHISTLES & Frame Fitness Studio. I was selected along side five other bloggers to model a new activewear collection. I had only been blogging for 3 months and so I was mega happy to be included in the line up. The photo shoot was great and being a part of it really inspired me. I didn’t have a huge following on my blog or on social media at the time. To be honest, at first I wondered if anyone actually read my blog at all. I decided not to worry to much about all of the stats/number of followers etc, it doesn’t really matter. Over time my blog has grown organically and I am amazed to see how it has developed in just one year. If you’re thinking of started a blog or anything else this year, but you’re unsure, go for it ! Don’t under estimate what you could achieve this year!
I joined the London Midnight Runners! I was recruited by their Co-founder Christian. He invited me to come along to a run one evening along the river Thames. I met the team and we ran an awesome 10k route through London. I introduced them to some of my body weight exercises and strength training methods. It was such a fun night and we all worked so hard! The next day I joined the London Midnight Runners as a crew captain. Since my first run with Midnight Runners 6 months ago I have watched the crew get bigger and better every week. If you are looking for an awesome way to get fit in 2016 with a bunch of crazy wonderful people, come and join us!
I became a Lorna Jane Active Ambassador! Lorna Jane is the ultimate activewear. The Australian fitness brand not only promotes healthy active living, but they also host amazing fitness events around the world, including Active Nation Day. I’ve loved working with the Lorna Jane team and I am so happy to be waving the LJ flag here in the UK. The first ever Lorna Jane Active shop will be opening its doors in London in January 2016! I’ll see you there 🙂
We got Pretty Muddy for Cancer Research. My sister and I completed a 5k muddy assault course to raise some cash for charity. I remember feeling so proud of my little sister that day, for completing her first ever charity run! If you are a newbie runner then I recommend signing up for a Race For Life or Pretty Muddy. There is a great atmosphere at Cancer Research events and their races are always really well organised. I’ll definitely be signing up again this year.
From mud to modelling . . . London Fashion Week!
In September 2015 I walked in London Fashion Week for sports luxe fashion designer, Charli Cohen. I still can’t quite believe it. Walking in London Fashion Week was literally a dream come true for me. Charli selected her catwalk line up from Instagram as she wanted to showcase women with strong healthy bodies. Traditionally fashion week has a reputation of using only super skinny models. Charli’s show was incredible and was been featured in both Women’sHealth.com & VOGUE.com. I have social media/blogging to thank for making this dream a reality.
One of the biggest highlights of 2015 for me was meeting Hayley Jane Warnes. We met at a yoga event in London and after befriending each other on instagram and reading each others blogs, we quickly became great mates. Hayley is an awesome training buddy and all round super star! We completed the West London 10k together in November and Hayley has somehow managed to convinced me to do a triathlon with her later on this year! I’m not a great swimmer so I’m going to be seeking expert advice and coaching. I might have to sneak some arm bands in to my kit bag too!
I finished off 2015 by modelling in a sporty chic photo shoot for Women’s Health magazine. The studio shoot was styled by their wonderful fashion editor Pamela Harris. I can’t wait to see the images in the magazine in 2016! I wore a total of 8 different outfits to jump, balance and leap around in. What a kick ass way to end the year!
I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store! As I mentioned, I will be signing up for my first ever triathlon this summer along side my fit pals Hayley & Tashi. I will of course continue to share my training tips, YouTube videos, healthy recipes and sporty style posts with you guys. I am so inspired by the amazing community of women in the fitness industry that are sharing a positive message about health and fitness. Bring on the next chapter . . . I hope that you all have a very Happy New Year!
This is inspiring! ❤
